Homemade Chocolate Gravy From Scratch

The only thing that can make homemade biscuits any better is some warm, homemade chocolate gravy drizzled (or, if you’re like me, puddled) on top.I mean…it’s chocolate and it’s gravy. What’s not to love?! Try this recipe out and I bet your kids will be waiting in line for breakfast with plates and forks in hand, and your husband will want to marry you all over again! Enjoy!

 

Ingredients:
2 cups sugar

¾ cup cocoa powder

¼ cup flour

2 tsp salt, or to taste

4 cups milk

2-3 tsp vanilla

½ cup (1 stick) of butter

 

Utensils:

Large saucepan

Whisk

 

Directions:
1.) In saucepan, whisk dry ingredients until well combined.

2.) Turn on heat to medium-low and pour in your milk. Whisk until fully incorporated and no chunks of cocoa powder remain.

3.) IMPORTANT!! WHISK CONSTANTLY until the gravy begins to thicken.

4.) When the gravy has thickened and begins to leave trace marks behind your whisk, add your butter and vanilla.

5.) Continue whisking until everything is fully incorporated and the gravy reaches the desired consistency.

6.) Serve with homemade biscuits!

*Note: Continue whisking the gravy as it cools to avoid a film forming on top.
*Note: The gravy will thicken as it cools. If it becomes thicker than you’d like, just add some milk and whisk it all together until it’s as thin as you’d like.
